"The materials we produce go straight to the mission field." / by Linsey (Yanke) Blodgett (from Issue #562)

by Linsey Yanke

FOLLOWING OUR CHAPEL TIME, every morning that I’m at the NCEM Printshop, I start up my computer to look through my emails and compile a list of “to-dos” for the day. I may then start designing a project to be printed … or walk to the back of our Printshop and “fire up” our digital printing press.

If it’s designing and editing to be done, I will be at my computer desk for the majority of the day… or I may be on my feet at the back all day if there is printing, bindery (paper folding, trimming, perforating, etc.), or packaging that is needing done.

What we do in the Printshop is “behind the scenes” and may seem like a mundane job to some, but materials we produce go straight to the mission field! The evangelistic tracts we print are flown into northern First Nations communities, or given out on city streets. It’s all for the purpose of sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. The books printed are resources used to share the Gospel, encourage new believers, or strengthen those who have known Christ for a long time.

We print songbooks that help to share the love of Jesus through music. We design cards that are small enough to slip into a wallet to remind and encourage people of who their Heavenly Father is. We create brochures and posters so that our Bible camps will be filled with children and youth learning who Jesus is and what He has done for them.

Our NCEM Printshop may be in the background, unseen by most, but the materials produced and prayed over are used in the very real spiritual battle on the front lines.

Other things we print are meant to lift up, encourage, and support our missionaries. Every missionary has a group of prayer warriors behind them, and through prayer letters we are able to share how God has been working. Prayer letters go out through each missionary’s distribution list, and find their way into homes and churches where someone who may not yet be familiar with NCEM’s ministry will pick it up, read it, and pray.

Besides prayer letters, prayer cards are great tools to help the missionary build up their support team. Placed on a church bulletin board or on a fridge, they remind people to pray for the spiritual battles we encounter daily.

Another tool used by missionaries printed in our Print Shop are “response cards” … an opportunity for people to pledge their prayer and financial support, and to sign up for publications that give more details of NCEM’s ongoing ministries and prayer needs.

We print and hand out all of these things not to promote ourselves, but so that we can give the glory to God and to rely on Him as our provider. Please pray for the materials we print and send out to be effective in Kingdom work.

Currently we have a critical need for media missionaries to serve in our Printshop. Most days the last couple months I have been the only worker in our Printshop.

Jesus’s words, “The harvest is plenty, but the workers are few,” are very real to us here at HQ these days. As you pray with us for this need, please consider that God may be calling you or someone you know to … PRINT HERE __ __ __ __ __
