Grant Pattimore passed away in March 2023 after 21 faithful years of service with NCEM. His wife Nettie continues to serve and carry on the ministry at Carry the Kettle First Nation as she is able.
…………………………
I find it hard to know where to begin. Grant’s passing was so sudden. There was no warning that this would be his last day on earth. So it was such a shock those first days/weeks.
Almost immediately, I started thanking God for how He took Grant home- no pain, no suffering, now in the presence of Jesus. Home at last, where he wanted to be.
Shortly after Grant went home, I listened to a podcast sent to me by a man who had gone through similar events when his wife went home. He said, “I bring all my losses to God, and He takes the losses and then fills me with His peace in those areas.” I brought my losses to God and continue to do that, and God fills me with His peace in those areas.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6, 7)
The choice is mine; I must trust Jesus, He takes care of me, and I leave that with Him.
Also, I understand from Scripture that Grant is with Jesus. In Luke 23:43, Jesus said to the thief on the cross, “Today you will be with me in paradise.” Grant is not dead; he is alive and in heaven with Jesus. I rejoice in that, and I know I will see him again.
God has healed my broken heart (Ps.147:3). I still miss Grant, but I can rejoice in the Lord. When I rejoice in Him, I am at peace. God is with me every step of the way.
