Behind the Scenes … really?

WE OFTEN USE THE PHRASE “behind-the-scenes” to describe our ministries at NCEM Headquarters. This edition of Northern Lights has featured our Office and Printshop, and previous magazine editions have featured our Tribal Trails TV outreach. (P.S.: The irony is not lost on us … can we “feature” something, and still call it “behind-the-scenes”?)

Whatever the task, our Mandate is: to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ among and in partnership with the Aboriginal Peoples of Canada … and our Vision: by faith to establish strong indigenous multiplying churches.

This requires God’s people living and serving in Indigenous communities … where there are many opportunities! Some places may have a few believers, but no one there encouraging them to get together for Bible study, worship and fellowship. In some communities, there may be an established evangelical fellowship, but the believers want someone to join them to assist in their local church’s areas of need.

And, sad to say, there are communities with little or no Christian witness … communities full of people searching for something better. The Lord wants to save, give hope, and change lives and communities from the inside out.

We believe that establishing and strengthening local churches is central to the Great Commission and the building of God’s Kingdom among Canada First Peoples. Can you imagine anything more rewarding than seeing firsthand a church planted where there previously wasn’t one? Wondering if you’re qualified? Foremost, the Lord desires a willingness to learn and serve among people whom He loves and for whom He gave His life.
